The Audrain County Commission voted unanimously Thursday to increase the annual animal control contract with the Mexico Humane Society by $18,000, bringing the total to $74,000.

Commissioner Darla Fink said the previous contract had not been adjusted since 2022 and that the Humane Society has seen a 30 percent increase in intake since then.

The new contract runs through the end of 2027.
