On-Air Spotlights

Hometown stories, on the air.

Some things deserve more than a passing mention. Country 96's On-Air Spotlights shine a light on the schools, the FFA chapters and the hometown celebrations that make mid-Missouri what it is.

The Features

What we spotlight

Recurring features you'll hear throughout the year on Country 96 — each one rooted in our corner of Missouri.

Weekday mornings

FFA Event of the Day

A daily salute to the local FFA chapters, contests and members shaping the next generation of mid-Missouri agriculture.

Every weekday Country 96 highlights one FFA happening from across the listening area — a district livestock judging, a chapter banquet, a proficiency award or a Greenhand initiation. From Mexico and Centralia to Paris and Vandalia, the FFA Event of the Day keeps the blue-jacket community front and center on the radio that farm families already have on.

April – May

Graduations

Caps off to the Class of the year — Country 96 reads area high-school graduation dates, times and honors all spring.

When May rolls around, the Graduations spotlight carries commencement details for high schools across Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Monroe, Montgomery and Randolph counties. We share dates, locations and ceremony times so families never miss a walk across the stage — and we cheer on every Bulldog, Panther, Bulldog and Hornet in the listening area.

Late October

National FFA Convention Reports

On-the-scene reports as area students compete and celebrate at the National FFA Convention each fall.

Each October, members from mid-Missouri chapters head to the National FFA Convention. Country 96 follows our local students with reports on the awards, the career-development events and the once-in-a-lifetime experiences — from American Degrees to national proficiency finalists. It is hometown pride on a national stage, brought home over the air.

Summer festival

Centralia Day

A spotlight on Centralia's hometown festival — the parade, the carnival, the food and the small-town fun.

Centralia rolls out a full day of hometown celebration, and Country 96 is there to share it. The Centralia Day spotlight covers the parade lineup, the carnival, vendor booths, live entertainment and the fireworks — everything that makes this Boone County tradition a can't-miss on the summer calendar.

Annual celebration

Mark Twain Lake – Perry Days

Lakeside fun and small-town heritage from Mark Twain Lake country and the Perry Days celebration in Monroe County.

Up around Mark Twain Lake, the Perry Days celebration brings Monroe County together with a parade, a tractor show, music, food and family games. Country 96 spotlights the schedule and the stories so listeners across the region can plan a trip to the lake and join in the hometown fun.
